Who Was Gary Fryklind?
Gary Fryklind, who was a high school art teacher in the past, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 80 in April 2021. He happened to be the father of Daegan Fryklind, who serves as a co-showrunner and executive producer for the Netflix series, Shadow and Bone. The tribute message featured towards the conclusion of episode 6 in season 2, which is titled “Ni Weh Sesh (I Have No Heart),” was a way of commemorating Gary Fryklind.
The writer of Shadow and Bone EP, Daegan Fryklind, posted a heartwarming message on Instagram about her father. She shared a photo and expressed that despite her father not fully understanding her work, he always watched her shows and asked the right questions. The post ended with a touching sentiment, “Love you, Pop.” Shadow and Bone season 2 is now available for streaming on Netflix.
