Investigation Discovery will air Casey Anthony: The Real Story Part 1 on November 18 at 8:00 pm ET, detailing the 2008 disappearance and death of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony. Synopsis: “Exploring the Caylee Anthony case; new interviews with Caylee’s grandparents detail the two-year-tragic old’s death.”
Caylee disappeared in July 2008 and her remains were found in December in a wooded area near her home. After prosecutors failed to find forensic evidence against Casey, who was arrested a day after her two-year-old went missing on child neglect and false information charges, she was acquitted of murder. In a contentious court decision, Casey was acquitted of the child’s murder in 2011. Casey Anthony, “The Most Hated Mom in America,” received a four-year sentence for false information.
What Happened To Caylee Anthony?
On August 9, 2005, 19-year-old Casey Anthony gave birth to Caylee. Casey told a psychiatrist that she was impregnated at 18 while unconscious at a party and had no memory of it. The father of the child is unknown. After an argument with her mother, Casey moved in with her then-boyfriend Tony Lazzaro and her two-year-old daughter in 2008.
In mid-July, Casey’s mother Cindy Anthony allegedly called 911 to report her granddaughter missing for a month. Authorities did not understand why the mother did not file a missing report. Casey falsely claimed her daughter was with “Zanny” babysitter Zenaida Gonzalez. When they escorted Casey to Universal Studios, authorities discovered she lied about working there. She misled investigators.
Over the next few months, hundreds of people and law enforcement searched for Caylee Anthony, hoping to find new leads. The missing person investigation led to Casey’s October 2008 indictment on seven felony counts, including first-degree murder, to which she pleaded not guilty.

Where Were Caylee Anthony’s Remains Found?
Caylee’s skull and bones were found in a forest near George and Cindy’s home in December 2008. Duct tape with a faint heart-shaped mark sealed the lip. Two garbage bags with children’s clothing, a Winnie the Pooh blanket, and a pull-up diaper contained the body parts.
The prosecution in Casey Anthony‘s controversial trial claimed that she killed Caylee by duct-taping her mouth and nose after knocking her out with chloroform to escape parental duties. They also claimed that Casey kept the two-year-body old’s in a trunk for several days before dumping it in the woods.
The defense claimed that the accused’s father disposed of Caylee Anthony’s body after she drowned in the family’s pool. The report found that Anthony’s car trunk hair was “microscopically similar” to Caylee’s hairbrush, but it could not prove that it belonged to the victim.
