Since the first season of “The Royals,” a comedy series by Mark Schwahn about a made-up British royal family, came out in 2015, a lot of people have liked it, even though it has gotten some bad reviews. Even though fans of The Royals loved and appreciated the show a lot, the team behind The Royals decided to end the show in 2018 after the fourth season ended early. The script for the fifth season was already written, and fans were looking forward to when The Royals Season 5 would come out. However, we just found out that the show has been canceled.
So, what happened in the end that made the creators of the show decide not to make season 5? Is it possible that the next season will come out? What does star of the show Elizabeth Hurley say about this? Stay tuned to find out what’s going on with The Royals season 5 and the interview with Elizabeth Hurley.
The Royals Season 5 Renewed Or Canceled?
The previous four seasons of Royals have depicted the British royal family’s dark and glorious life. Fans have enjoyed how all four seasons have turned out. This show is supposed to be over after Season 4, but the creators could change their minds. The main British family’s story will continue in Season 5, but Season 5 isn’t possible right now. So, until that is a possibility, the creators of The Royals have said that season 4 is the end of the story.
Why Did The Royals Season 5 Get Cancelled?
The show’s creator, Mark Schwahn, was accused of sexual harassment in another project, “One Tree Hill.” Mark was fired, and the show was canceled because of this claim. Twenty-five cast and crew members spoke out against Mark in a letter. They said that he often sexually harassed several female cast and crew members without their permission.
What Is The Royals About?
The Royals is full of surprises and interesting twists. It shows how hard it is for royals to keep their high-profile relationships going while being watched, and it continues to show how chaotic the monarchy is.
The fourth season of “The Royals” starts after the charming, possibly dishonest Prince Robert (Max Brown) is crowned King of England. Prince Liam (William Moseley) and his recently dethroned uncle Cyrus (Jake Maskall) form an unlikely alliance. Queen Helena (Elizabeth Hurley) struggles to keep her rowdy children in line while she figures out her role in the palace. And after a heated on-again, off-again relationship, bodyguard Jasper (Tom Austen) tries again to win Princess Eleanor’s (Alexandra Park) heart just as they are about to face their biggest problem yet. Wilhelmina is played by Genevieve Gaunt in the show. Brian Robbins, Joe Davola (“One Tree Hill” and “Smallville”), and Shauna Phelan are the executive producers of “The Royals.” It is made by Lionsgate and UCP.
Elizabeth Hurley Comments on The Royals Season 5:
Monday, when Hurley was on Watch What Happens Live on Bravo, a caller asked her if she was happy with how the show ended. “No,” was her answer. “We didn’t expect it to end. Everybody thought there would definitely be a fifth season, so the storylines weren’t really finished properly. I think a lot of the fans were upset that we didn’t tie up loose ends. We were upset, too, in a way.”
As fans (called “Loyals”) will remember, the show’s fourth season finale ended with Robert (Max Brown) becoming King of England, Jasper (Tom Austen) and Eleanor (Alexandra Park) getting engaged, Violet and Cyrus (Jake Maskall) getting back together, and Kathryn confirming that she’s pregnant, hopefully with Liam’s (William Moseley) child. Unfortunately, the show was canceled soon after, so we may never know how any of those stories would have turned out. In fact, the same person who called WWHL and asked about a fifth season also asked Hurley about it. “Unlikely. I think the sets were burned. They’re gone.”
How Has The Show Been Rated So Far?
Fans and critics both love this show a lot, and its ratings show that. All four seasons have been full of all the drama and fun that a soap opera has to offer. The show’s political content has been the icing on the cake. The show currently has a good 7.4 out of 10 rating on IMDb, which is fair for what the show is worth. People have said that the show was so good that they want more fun with The Royals.
