The first trailer for The Flash gave us our best look yet at Sasha Calle as Supergirl in the upcoming DC Universe (DCU) blockbuster.
As The Flash starts a new “reset” of the DC Universe, it will do so with a new version of the Justice League. This new team will have both new and old heroes. Supergirl, played by Sasha Calle, is one of the new DCU heroes.
The Girl of Steel’s debut in the DCU comes right after James Gunn’s DC Studios announced Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, even though it’s still unclear if Calle or another actress will be in the blockbuster.
DC Reveals The New Supergirl (Sasha Calle) For The Flash
DC released the first trailer for The Flash, showing Sasha Calle’s Supergirl in action for the first time. The Girl of Steel can be seen flying, shooting her heat vision, and even fighting the Man of Steel villain Zod, played by Michael Shannon.
Supergirl seems to have taken over the role of Superman from the original Flashpoint story, in which the US government held the Kryptonian prisoner and used red sun radiation to take away his powers.
In extra footage that wasn’t in the full trailer but did appear in a Superbowl TV spot to promote the movie’s release, Supergirl can be seen staring down Michael Shannon’s General Zod as they get ready to fight.
Before putting on her Supergirl costume, the Kryptonian, who seems to have just gotten away from being captured, helps Michael Keaton’s Batman and Ezra Flash’s Flash fight, showing off her strength and speed.
When Batman and Flash are being held at gunpoint by a group of soldiers, the Girl of Steel flies out of her prison just in time.
In addition to showing that this Supergirl is from the same universe as Keaton’s Batman, Calle’s Supergirl also confirmed that her name is Kara, probably Kent. This ended rumors that she would play a different version of the female Kryptonian hero.

All signs point to Calle’s Supergirl taking the place of Henry Cavill’s Superman in this alternate world, most likely because she was sent to Earth from Krypton after the end of the world in his place.
Sasha Calle responded to the trailer’s release on Twitter with all capital letters, saying that she “put her heart and soul into Supergirl” and that she was very excited for fans to see The Flash finally:
“Y’all! I Love You! I Put My Heart And Soul Into Supergirl. It’s So Exciting To Finally Share A Little Bit Of Her With You! She’s So Special & Strong. Getting To Know Her & Feel Her Has Been One Of My Greatest Honors. I Love Her So Much And I Love You! June 16. Lets Fucking Goooo!”
In a follow-up tweet, Calle added how Supergirl has taught her hope and that “anything is possible:.”
“If Theres Anything Supergirl Has Taught Me, It’s Hope. Anything Is Possible. Do Not Let Anyone Tell You Otherwise! I Love You!!!!!!”
The actress also included her video reaction to The Flash trailer which can be seen below:
IF THERES ANYTHING SUPERGIRL HAS TAUGHT ME, IT’S HOPE.
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. DO NOT LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE! I LOVE YOU!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/YEunVB9RMW

Supergirl’s Role In The Flash Explained
Barry Allen’s interference with the DCU timeline seems to have led to this Flashpoint world where there are no metahumans or Justice League. With Supergirl being locked up, most likely by the US government, it could be that people are becoming more against people with superpowers in this world.
The Flash’s trailer makes it look like Zod, played by Michael Shannon, will be the main bad guy, just like he was in Man of Steel. So, maybe the Multiversal blockbuster will be like a retelling of the DCEU’s first Kryptonian adventure, with Flash, Supergirl, and Batman going up against Zod.
Online reactions to this first look at Supergirl have been primarily positive, which may help Sasha Calle make it through the next wave of DC recasts and take the lead in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. James Gunn has already said how much he likes “The Flash,” which should help her chances a lot.
