No one on Earth seems to be able to stop the vengeful being from ruling the box office. And it’s true: after a strong first week, the DC Comics anti-hero movie Black Adam still has a total of $250 million worldwide, making it the top movie at the box office.
The movie, which stars Dwayne Johnson, made $7.5 million on its second Friday and is expected to make an additional $39 million this weekend from 76 overseas markets, such as France, Holland, Turkey, Germany, Denmark, and the UK.
The movie is a worldwide hit, as shown by the fact that it has made $139 million and has been seen by an estimated 29 million people. It also has a +42% tracking lead over the 2019 DC movie Shazam.
Black Adam has continued to show that it is a force to be reckoned with. It beat out the romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise, which was led by Julia Roberts and George Clooney, and made $10 million over two weekends, a 39% drop. Prey for the Devil from Lionsgate is expected to come in third at the box office in its first weekend.
Johnson’s career has kept going up, and Black Adam was his 18th movie that made more than $100 million. The public’s reaction to the movie has been much more positive than the critics’. With a 45% drop in its second week, it is doing better globally than Matt Reeves’s dark take on The Batman, which dropped 50% in its second week.
Black Adam is a movie directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani. It tells the story of Teth Adam, a man from Ancient Kahndaq who got powers from the gods. But after he used his new skills to get his own back, he was caught and turned into Black Adam. Nearly 5,000 years later, Black Adam has turned into a god-like being, but he is still as angry as ever.
In addition to Johnson, the cast includes Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman. These actors play members of the Justice Society, who challenge Black Adam’s different idea of “justice.” Sarah Shahi plays Isis. Marwan Kenzari plays Sabbac, Mohammed Amer plays Karim, and Bodhi Sabongui plays Amon Tomaz.
On December 2, Black Adam will be shown in Japanese theatres. The movie will go up against the highly anticipated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which comes out in theatres on November 11. You can keep checking collider for more information.
