Fans are excited to see what adventures Victor and Yuri will face in the first season of ‘Yuri On Ice.’ The first season of the anime series follows Yuri, a Japanese figure skater who has lost faith in his abilities and is taken under the wing of renowned champion Victor Nikiforov.
Victor also coaches another Russian skater named Yuri, and the two Yuris compete in the Figure Staking Grand Prix. Mitsuro Kubo wrote the series, which lasted 12 episodes and was produced by MAPAA and directed by Sayo Yamamoto.
The anime series quickly became a fan favorite due to its lovely plot and romance between Victor and Yuri, as well as their exquisite coordinated ice-skating routines. The show’s same-sex romance received a lot of attention and praise as well.
Since the premiere of the first season on October 6, 2016, fans have been eager to learn more about the renewal in the hopes that the show will be renewed for a second season. As a result, here’s everything we know so far.
Yuri On Ice Season 2 Premier Date
Season 1 premiered on October 6, 2016, and continued to entertain fans until December 22, 2016. It took less than a year. In 2017, a special episode titled ‘Yuri!!! on Ice: Yuri Plisetsky GPF in Barcelona EX – Welcome to The Madness’ was released as a result of the show’s popularity and fan love. MAPPA also planned to make an anime film based on the show, titled Yuri!!! on Ice.
In 2019, the film Ice Adolescence was released. However, no information about the second season of Yuri! on Ice has been released by the studio. However, we are optimistic that there will be a second season because there is still time for the renewal. Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2022 or 2023, based on our best guess.
We are currently unsure how the coronavirus pandemic has affected production.
Yuri On Ice Season 2 Plot
We can’t say anything with 100% certainty right now, but we can definitely think of a possible plot for the second season. The second season will focus on Yuri Katsuki and Victor’s relationship, as they are no longer just a coach and trainee.
Their relationship may be more developed and mature, with ups and downs. We can also see Victor competing against Yuri at the next Grand Prix, despite the fact that he is Yuri’s mentor. If this occurs, the trainee will be forced to stand opposite his teacher in a much more dramatic situation. All of this will be confirmed when the second installment of Yuri on Ice is released.
Yuri On Ice Season 2 Cast
We can’t talk about a potential second season of Yuri!!! on ICE in terms of cast and characters because we don’t know if there will even be a second season.
But, given that we know the series will have a mostly fixed cast, we don’t expect to see too many changes in the structure of season two, if it ever happens. Now, the main characters from season one who is likely to return for a second season are:
- Yuri Katsuki Voiced by: Toshiyuki Toyonaga
