Thor: Love and Thunder now holds the record for the MCU’s shortest promotional window. But Marvel Studios is about to drop the hammer. Thor 4, which will be released in theatres on July 8, will be the first time audiences have seen the God of Thunder since the events of Avengers: Endgame, and based on the first teaser, his soul-searching narrative will be populated with faces both old and new to the MCU.
Love and Thunder will star the Guardians of the Galaxy, Russell Crowe as Zeus, and, most intriguingly, Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster as the Mighty Thor and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, in addition to filmmaker Taika Waititi’s Korg and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie.
Is Thor: Love and Thunder Released?
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to hit theatres on July 8, 2022. It was supposed to be released on November 5, 2021, however that date was pushed back owing to the ongoing pandemic.
Thor 4 was subsequently scheduled to be released in May 2022, but after Marvel Studios announced in October 2021 that it would be delaying all of its planned films, the date was pushed back again. Thankfully, its release date has not been pushed back, so you can start getting excited for its arrival this summer.

Thor: Love and Thunder Plot
Marvel Studios’ synopsis: Thor: Love and Thunder is Chris Hemsworth’s quest for inner serenity. Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), a galactic killer, interrupts his retirement.
Thor: Love and Thunder takes up after Avengers: Endgame, with Thor overweight and working with the Guardians. Marvel is keeping Thor 4’s overall plot under wraps, despite the description and teaser trailer. We’ll still speculate about Thor: Love and Thunder.
In the teaser clip, we see him working out with heavy chain combat ropes. First-act training montage in Rocky style.
Before that, Thor needs a (hammer) kick to get back into hero mode. According to merchandise for Thor 4, the Guardians must “convince Thor to return to the battlefield.” It looks like they’ll succeed, which could lead to Thor becoming a Ravager before he joins Korg and friends on a Gorr-focused expedition.

Trilogies, be damned! After rebranding the god of thunder for Thor: Ragnarok, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor will return for Thor: Love and Thunder, along with director Taika Waititi and Tessa Thompson, the new queen of Asgard.
What’s happening after the ‘End of the World’?
The film will begin with Thor hanging out with the Guardians of the Galaxy after Endgame. His choice to depart Earth aboard the Milano at the end of Endgame was expected to lead into his participation in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Love and Thunder replaced Guardians once James Gunn was sacked.
A new threat to all the gods forces Thor to ally with Jane and King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) of New Asgard. Though the teaser says she’s doing a good job, rumours since Endgame suggests Valkyrie may hunt for a queen to share her power as head of the remaining Asgardians.
It all leads to an expedition from New Asgard to space. If Jane is from another universe, we may see the old Asgard again, albeit it’s not required at this stage. Thor’s path for inner peace is more compelling if he never returns home.
