The Crown Season 5 Renewed
While the show’s creator, Peter Morgan, had initially intended for it to stretch across six 10-episode seasons, he came to the conclusion that it was “the ideal time and place to finish” while writing the fifth season of The Crown.
Eventually, it was revealed that Morgan had changed his mind in July 2020, and Netflix verified on social media that a sixth season was really in the works.
The fifth and final season of The Crown will focus on the troubled early 1990s, and the series will conclude with a more in-depth look at the time period in question, which will be the stormy early 1990s. It also allows new cast members such as Imelda Staunton and Lesley Manville to appear on screen for twice as long as they would have otherwise.
