No, no release date has been set for Stranger Things’ fifth season. Season 5 production has been pushed back due to the recent strikes.
Initially, season 5 of Strangers Things was scheduled to begin filming in the middle of 2023. These ambitions, however, have now been thwarted. The Duffer Brothers, widely known as the creators of Stranger Things, confirmed on Twitter that the show will be halted in support of the Writers Guild strike.

As some rumors suggest, The final season will consist of eight episodes. However, it is unknown how long each episode will last. Season 5 may follow in the footsteps of the previous season, with a movie-length finale episode or, better yet, numerous episodes spanning a two-hour run duration.
However, it appears that the Stranger Things team is preparing to provide fans with more concrete clues about what the final season will be about via their new stage play. As Discussing Film Tweeted, The stage show is a prequel set in 1959 when Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously, Joyce wants to graduate, and Henry Creel comes.

Stranger Things Season 5 Cast
So far, it appears that the majority of the core characters will return for Season 5. This includes the following:
- Eleven is played by Millie Bobby Brown.
- Mike is played by Finn Wolfhard.
- Lucas is played by Caleb McLaughlin, and Dustin is played by Gaten Matarazzo.
- Will is played by Noah Schnapp.
- Nancy is played by Natalia Dyer.
- Steve is played by Joe Keery.
- Jonathan is played by Charlie Heaton.
- Robin is played by Maya Hawke.
- Joyce is played by Winona Ryder.
- Hopper is played by David Harbour.
While it’s likely that Sadie Sink will return as Max, given that she was in a coma by the end of Season 4, it’s uncertain in what capacity she’ll appear. It also appears that fan favorite Eddie Munson, played by Joe Quinn, will remain dead and will not return for Season 5.
Stranger Things Season 5 Speculations
Stranger Things Season 5’s plot is still unknown, but here are some predictions about it. The events of Season 4 will be repeated in Season 5. The season’s main focus will be on Will Byers, who will be dealing with the fallout from Vecna’s possession.
Eleven will be reunited with her old buddy Kali, and the two will work together to finally stop Vecna. The season will also have a time leap and will take place largely in Hawkins and the Upside Down. Stranger Things Season 5 will be the darkest and most epic season ever.
Vecna, the villain from Season 5, is expected to return. He was not slain in Season 4, and his absence almost definitely sets up his comeback as the season’s main antagonist. It is possible, though, that a new adversary will be introduced in Season 5.

What Happened In Season 4?
Throughout Season 4, we’ve watched the Hawkins children try to solve the mystery of Vecna, a supernatural killer who began as 001 in Dr. Martin Brenner’s experiments. The harsh surroundings of the otherworldly region developed him into a powerful antagonist when Eleven banished him to the Upside Down.
We’ve seen Vecna use his ruthless abilities on helpless teenagers, beginning with Chrissy’s horrific murder in Episode 1 and progressing through Max in Episode 4, who narrowly escaped his grasp with the power of Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill. Unfortunately, she did not escape unhurt a second time and is now in a coma, where she appears to be staying until Season 5.
Joyce Byers and Murray Bauman were able to successfully return Hopper home after he spent some time in a Russian prison, but not before he epically beheaded a Demogorgon. Mike, Will, Johnathan, and the new character Argyle returned to Hawkins as well, but Hawkins isn’t exactly the ideal place to be right now.
Vecna is able to open a massive gate across Hawkins after successfully sacrificing four children, bringing the Upside Down to the right side. In the season’s last moments, our heroes witness black smoke pouring through the gate, threatening what’s to come in Season 5.
Eleven may have regained her powers after working with the late Doctor Brenner, but will it be enough to combat the greatest threat Hawkins has ever faced?
