Singapore Plans to Invest $50 Million in AI Latest Updates

Singapore intends to spend $50 million in a program to maintain investigation on AI and cybersecurity for planned information arrangements, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat declared on Tuesday.

As a member of the Future Communications Research & Development Programme, Singapore intends to fix up distinct description testbeds in 5G and ahead 5G, help the technology community, and raise a limited talent pool.

5G belongs to the fifth generation of internet connections that aims to give quicker data rates and more bandwidth to support increasing levels of web traffic. 

Several modern technologies, like self-driving vehicles, are underpinned by fast progress and the global deployment of 5G channels. For its role, Singapore intends to have complete island broad standalone 5G coverage by 2025.

The plan will “advance AI and cybersecurity analysis for next-generation information support,” Heng told at the Asia Tech x Singapore discussion.

It will “promote testbeds for innovative pilots, and give scholarships for those trying to continue analysis in news.”

The program will further build global companies and encourage cross-border collaborations, according to Heng, who is further Singapore’s organizing representative for commercial policies.

Unlocking the entire potential

Heng said that having the capability to enable data to move securely and seamlessly can assist countries to unlock the entire potential of digitalization.

Southeast Asia’s digital economy is fast-growing and its internet sectors are supposed to pass $300 billion by 2025, based on a piece of enterprise news from Google, Temasek Holdings, and Bain & Company.

The COVID-19 stimulated the drive via digitalization as numerous businesses, large and small, had to change their appearance online in the face of social constraints and lockdowns.

“Simply as globalization applied decades of economic growth throughout the world, I think the quick-growing digital marketplace can move us to a better prospect,” Heng told.
