People are excited about the possibility of a Red Dead Redemption 3 game, especially after the success of Red Dead Redemption 2. A famous person who leaks game info suggests that the new game might be in development. We’re trying to figure out when it might come out and what the story could be.
Rockstar Games, the company behind the game, is also famous for the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series. While we’re hearing more about the next GTA game, there’s not much news about Red Dead Redemption 3. Even though the last Red Dead Redemption game was a big hit and came out about five years ago, there aren’t many rumors about the next one.
It wouldn’t make sense for Rockstar to stop making games in this popular series. So, we believe there will be another Red Dead Redemption game. The big question is: when will it be released? Here’s what we know so far.
Red Dead Redemption 3 Release Date
We can only guess when the game will come out since we haven’t heard anything public about it. But if we assume that GTA 6 will come out around 2025, then Red Dead Redemption 3 could come out around 2030.
Red Dead Redemption 1 came out in 2010 and Red Dead Redemption 2 came out in 2018. Rockstar has recently slowed down its own game production to make its games last longer and reduce crunch. This makes it very unlikely that there will be another eight-year break before RDR 3, which would be in 2026. Too bad.
Red Dead Redemption 3 Confirmation
A Twitter user named @MyTimeToShineH, who often shares movie leaks about Marvel and DC, recently hinted at a new Hogwarts Legacy game and suggested that Rockstar might be working on Red Dead Redemption 3. However, this user doesn’t usually share game info, so we’re not sure how accurate this is.

Many think Rockstar is probably working on a third Red Dead Redemption game. Some believe it might be about what happened before Red Dead Redemption 2, showing the Van Der Linde Gang’s earlier days. This could lead up to events in Blackwater, which were important at the start of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Red Dead Redemption 3 Story
As we said above, Landon Ricketts is the current leader in terms of a story. Ricketts wouldn’t go too far from what John Marston and Arthur Morgan did, since he is also a famous shooter whose story hasn’t been told yet in the game. In Red Dead Redemption 1, we meet old Landon Ricketts, but we don’t know much about the legend’s backstory, and Red Dead fans would love to learn more.
Another common request is to learn more about Charles Smith’s past. Charles was one of Red Dead Redemption 2’s most popular characters, and his story pretty much writes itself: He was born to a Native American mother and an African American father, and he finally joined Dutch’s gang.
Still, there are a lot of stories to be told in between. Charles’s connections to Native American groups and his life as a fighter in the underground could both be the basis for a story. Also, making Charles Smith the lead character would be a nice change from the typical gunslinger character, and it would let more people watch Red Dead Redemption 3.
Red Dead Redemption 3 Setting
Red Dead Redemption 3 could go in a lot of different directions. We can probably assume that we will go back to America and México again. That would be bad because it would mean that not much would change.
Since Rockstar’s first GTA game was set in London and Peaky Blinders has shown people what Birmingham looked like in 1919, it’s not completely out of the question that Rockstar would set the game in the UK, though it would be the craziest and most surprising reveal.
Still, since Red Dead Redemption 2 took place in 1899 and Red Dead Redemption 1 in 1911, a setting in Birmingham in 1919 would make sense. It wouldn’t be hard to work it into the current stories either since Rockstar could have a lot of characters “escape” the Wild West for England. People also want more Native American and South American settings.

Red Dead Redemption 3: Probably Next-Gen Exclusive
When RDR 3 comes out, it’s likely that Rockstar Games will make it for Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation platforms, which are probably the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X.
Also, since Red Dead Redemption 2 came out for PC, it’s possible that Red Dead Redemption 3 will also come out for PC. But who knows? Maybe by the time Red Dead Redemption 3 comes out, we’ll all have moved on to cloud games or VR.
It’s doubtful that RDR3 will come out on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One since it looks like GTA 6, which will come out before RDR3, will also be a next-gen exclusive.
