If Netflix knows one thing, it’s how to tell a story that leaves viewers wanting more. Since the announcement of the Bridgerton prequel about Queen Charlotte, fans have been waiting for more information about the show.

Finally, the time has come to gain some additional knowledge. The most important question, however, remains: when will the Bridgerton Queen Charlotte prequel show be released?

Queen Charlotte Bridgerton Premiere Date

The series’ release date has yet to be announced by Netflix or Shonda Rhimes. Season two of Bridgerton began filming in May 2021 and finished in November, before premiering on March 25, 2022. So, if the schedule for the spinoff is similar, we can probably expect the series to premiere in late winter or early spring of 2023 (though this is only an estimate).

We’ve included the entire main cast list below:

  • Young Queen Charlotte is played by India Amarteifio.
  • Queen Charlotte is played by Golda Rosheuval.
  • Princess Augusta is played by Michelle Fairley.
  • Young King George is played by Corey Mylchreest.

  • Lady Danbury is played by Adjoa Andoh.
  • Lady Violet Bridgerton is played by Ruth Gemmell.

On July 7, 2022, Netflix announced that Connie Jenkins-Greig will play Young Violet Ledger, the daughter of Vivian and Lord Ledger. Violet is described as a “sweet and inquisitive adolescent who hasn’t yet entered the marriage market… or famously become a Bridgerton.” So it appears that we now know who will play Young Violet Bridgerton.

Queen Charlotte Bridgerton Plot

Because Queen Charlotte’s character was inspired by the real Queen Charlotte, both the book and the show will most likely follow true historical events. According to Deadline, the plot of the book suggests that the show could also follow “how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the Ton world inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.”

Character descriptions for the show also allude to social change. Charlotte married George III after moving from Germany, speaking very little English, and generally unfamiliar with the ways of the British court. This pits her against George’s mother, Dowager Princess Augusta, but fans will have to wait and see how that plays out onscreen.

Where is Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story Being Made?

According to multiple sources, production on the limited series was supposed to begin in January 2022. Production Weekly later reported that production began on February 6th and that it will be completed by May 2022.

It will take place in London, with the production hoping to use Shepperton Studios, which expanded its relationship with Netflix in November. Filming is also taking place at Ditton Manor in Royal Berkshire, according to PW. Jewels are the working title for the show.

On March 28th, the series director, Tom Verica, posted on Instagram that filming had begun, saying:

“New chapter. Day 1 filming. Never gets old. #DirectorsPOV Wait til you see what we’ve got in store!”

That’s a wrap. This production, this cast, this crew…just wait. pic.twitter.com/VnkWJFgSz0
