Poker Face by Rian Johnson is already one of the year’s best shows. Part of that is because of its addictive murder-of-the-week style, in which some of the most famous people in Hollywood play either the victim or the killer (or both!). It’s fun and easy to watch, but most importantly, it’s intelligent and well-made.
But none of that is why we’re really watching Poker Face. We can’t stop watching this show because Natasha Lyonne has changed the lead character from Russian Doll to Charlie Cale, who can tell when people are lying.
While trying to escape her old boss, she runs into murder mysteries by accident every week. This “power” of hers ends up being very useful every week.
Ten killings in, we can’t wait to see Charlie ends up next. And thank goodness. We know she’ll be back on our screens soon because Peacock renewed the show on February 15, 2023, weeks before the end of the first season.
Grab some cigarettes and start practicing Lyonne’s signature rasp while we break down everything you need to know about Poker Face season two.
Poker Face Season 2: Release Date Details
A release date for Poker Face season two has not yet been announced, but production on the new episodes can begin sooner rather than later due to the early renewal.
After the first season finale played on March 9, 2023, co-showrunner Nora Zuckerman told The Hollywood Reporter that the schedule for season two is “still being decided.”
“Everyone was surprised that the pick-up came a little bit earlier than expected,” Nora said. “It was very welcome, but we still haven’t figured out how everyone’s plans work. We’ll soon find out.”
We can only guess when Poker Face might return until we know more. The show has made us never want to gamble again, but if we had to guess, we’d say the second season could come out as late as the spring or summer of 2024.
Plot Details Of Poker Face Season 2
Now that they have that early repeat under their belts, Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, who run the show Poker Face, are already planning what will happen next.
Nora told Variety, “We do have ideas.” “We wanted to do many things in the first season but didn’t because we thought, ‘We love this, but we’ll wait.’
“We are still working out the details. It was picked up so early that I don’t think anyone was ready for it so soon. So the idea is very exciting.”
Lilla added, “We know so much more now about how to write this show and how to change the format that I think when we go back and look at some of those worlds, characters, or murders that we put aside, we might find new ways in.”
“And we’ve seen that this kind of recipe works, that playing with different tones works, and that meeting new bad guys weekly works. So I think we can go into season two with a lot of faith and ideas.”
When Variety suggested that things go global in season two, the two were not against the idea at all.
Nora said, “‘Le Poker Face’ has been a joke because Rian [Johnson] is a Francophile.” “And we did talk about it in the room: Does Charlie’s power work if she hears someone lie in a language she doesn’t understand?”
Nora said that Lilla’s next suggestion was that Nora’s idea could happen in season two or even season five. Even though she was kidding at the time, it’s possible that Poker Face could last that long.
In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s creator, Rian Johnson, said that he hoped to keep making Poker Face until he was old. This wouldn’t be too hard to do since the show’s formula makes it easy to make a lot of seasons.
“Natasha [Lyonne] and I always talk about how old we’ll be when we keep doing this. I can see her doing it in a Jessica Fletcher way. And I’d be very happy. […] “It’s clear that this thing was made with a motor to keep going,” he said.

Poker Face Season 2 Cast: Who’s In Poker Face Season 2?
Natasha Lyonne will probably come back for Season 2, but the best thing about the show is that the stars of Season 2 will probably be a surprise. Season 1 had a lot of great stars, like Hong Chau, Stephanie Hsu, Simon Helberg, Tim Meadows, and many more.
But we know who author Rian Johnson wants to join the fun at some point, whether in Season 2 or later on: one of his Knives Out stars. In an interview with Men’s Health, he said, “Jamie Lee Curtis is the one person I would love to get to join one of these things.” “Jamie, if you’re listening, let’s play!”
Where To Watch Poker Face Season 2?
Poker Face only airs on NBC’s Peacock, and that won’t change for Season 2.
