The story is based on the FBI ‘s behavioral science unit. It revolves around the two FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Trench. They are assisted by a psychologist Wendy Carr.
As we have seen so far the agents interview serial killers to determine their motive of the crime. It also helps them understand how the mind of a psychopath works.
Mindhunter : The Story So Far
The story begins in 1977 when behavioral science is just an idea. It is at this time the infamous serial killer Edmund Kemper was caught. Agents Ford and Trench delve into the matter.
They interview Kemper to gain to know his motive behind the murders. This gave them an insight into the mind of a serial killer. They successfully proved the importance of behavioral science in the bureau. Season 1 concludes here.
Season 2 starts with Atlanta murders of the early 80s. Wayne Willians was arrested for the murder of two adult men. The local authorities thought it to be a racial hatred crime. But the agents interviewed Wayne and found out he had also killed more than 28 children and teenagers.

Mindhunter Season 3 Release Date
Netflix has put the production of 3rd season of Mindhunter on hold. This might be due to internal issues in the production team.
David Fincher one of the directors/producers of the show is involved in several shows right now. Furthermore due to the COVID -19 outbreak shooting activities are kept on hold. It will take a long time for the situation to normalize.
However, the show producers are in good terms with the streaming platform Netflix. David Fincher is also involved in important Netflix Like Mane ( an adaptation of Citizen Kane) and Love, death + Robots. So Netflix is likely to continue with the third season.
