About Mayfair Witches
Mayfair Witches is based on a trilogy of books by Anne Rice. Rowan Fielding, played by Alexandra Daddario, is a smart young neurosurgeon who finds out that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As she struggles with her newfound abilities, she must confront a malevolent presence that has haunted her family for generations.
Jack Huston, Tongayi Chirisa, and Harry Hamlin also star.
It is produced by AMC Studios, with executive producers Esta Spalding, Johnson, Michelle Ashford, Michael Uppendahl, and Jeff Freilich.
The eight-episode first season debuted last month, and the network reported that, based on the first 30 days of viewership, it was delivering the most-viewed season of any series ever on AMC+, surpassing Interview with a Vampire and The Walking Dead’s final season.
Mayfair Witches Ratings
The drama, which premiered on AMC and AMC+ on January 8 and is the second series in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, received a solid.11 rating in adults 18-49 on linear for its debut. According to AMC, the series has already surpassed “Interview with the Vampire” as the most-watched new series premiere on AMC+, and it is currently the most-viewed season of any series that has ever aired on AMC+ based on viewership for the first 30 days.
What Said Mayfair Witches Producers?
According to what executive producer Mark Johnson disclosed at the most recent TCA press tour for AMC, there are also plans to put together a crossover with the television show Interview with a Vampire.
The change, on the other hand, comes after AMC made the decision to cancel five of its shows as part of a one-time write-down that was intended to find content cost savings of approximately $400 million.
The President of Entertainment and AMC Studios, Dan McDermott, stated that this had been a “difficult but important process,” and he blamed factors such as rising inflation, a difficult ad market, and “too many shows.”
“We are thrilled with the reaction to this series, especially in the wake of the incredibly strong reception to Interview, and can’t wait to bring the fans second seasons of both series in this rich, vibrant, and expanding universe based on the works of Anne Rice,” McDermott said. “In a business in which ‘nobody knows anything,’ we knew what we were hoping for in terms of building a television franchise around these remarkable characters and stories, and to see these shows arrive and captivate viewers in the way they have is so gratifying and energizing for everyone involved, and there is so much yet to come.”
According to Mark Johnson, “The success of both Mayfair Witches and Interview with the Vampire once again illustrates the strength and mastery of Anne Rice’s work.”
Esta Spalding, the showrunner and executive producer, stated that “Anne Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches is a sumptuous epic tale that we’ve only begun to explore. I’m so grateful to the fans and viewers of the show who’ve given us a chance to continue telling this story.”
