There will be more ghost-busting just in time for Christmas 2023. The sequel to the hit movie “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” which came out in 2021, will come out on December 20, 2023.
Even though we don’t know much about the plot of the new movie, we do know that the characters will be back in New York City and at the Ghostbusters’ Firehouse. This is because “Afterlife” took place in a small town in Oklahoma.

“Ghostbusters: Afterlife” was the fourth movie in the famous 1980s horror comedy series. It was directed by Jason Reitman, who is the son of the original “Ghostbusters” director, Ivan Reitman. It was also the first movie since Paul Feig’s 2016 reboot with a female cast to follow the storyline of the first two movies. “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” made more than $200 million at the worldwide box office, even though it only cost $75 million to make.
Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace, who had never been in a “Ghostbusters” movie before, were all in “Afterlife.” Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and Sigourney Weaver all came back to play the same roles they had in the first two movies. As of right now, we don’t know which cast members will come back.
“Afterlife” was directed by Reitman, who wrote the script with Gil Kenan. His father, Ivan Reitman, was in charge of making the movie. Columbia Pictures made the movie and will also make the sequel. Sony Pictures Releasing is in charge of distributing the movie.
