In addition to the new co-op mode, the game will feature a traditional single-player campaign. There will be room for up to three players in the new co-op option. There will be six playable characters in the game. Each playable character will have its own set of skills and lines of dialogue, allowing for a wide variety of strategies in completing missions and taking down the undead.
The game’s setting and tone will be inspired by “classic cult Hollywood horror B-movies,” and it will take place in the city of Los Angeles. “We are excited to introduce Alexa Game Control in Dead Island 2,” stated Steve Bernstein, director of Alexa games. Without saying “Alexa,” activating an Echo device, or buying any extra hardware, he continued, “Gamers will have a more immersive gaming experience by using their voice to goad zombies, beg for help, activate unique skills during combat, and more.”
A gameplay trailer for Dead Island 2 was also published to draw interest. Jacob, one of the game’s six playable characters, can be seen going about his day in this trailer.
Fans have waited a long time for this game’s release on February 3, 2023, but the game’s trailer looks amazing and should get them psyched for the release.
The Saints Row revival was recently released by Deep Silver, the same company that developed Dead Island 2; it was an exclusive for the Epic Games Store. Fans of Saints Row could only pre-load the game on PlayStation and Xbox due to technical difficulties, which was also the case for EGS users. Though it’s likely that Dead Island 2 will dodge the same pre-loading issues that plagued the original game, if Saints Row is any indication, the Epic Games Store still has some pre-loading kinks to work out.
Due to the ever-increasing amount of video game downloads, pre-loading has been increasingly useful in recent years. Dead Island 2’s file size is unknown as of this writing, although it’s safe to assume that it will be on the sizable side. Since Dead Island 2 is an open-world game, its size is expected to be larger than that of a more traditional game. Dead Island 2’s file size is likely to remain a mystery until much closer to the game’s release date, but fans can be assured that pre-loading will be a welcome convenience anyway.
Dead Island 2 continues to raise a lot of mysteries. Dead Island 2’s Gamescom theatrical trailer, for instance, only revealed one of the game’s six playable characters, so there’s still a lot about them to find out.
