People have loved “Back to the Future” since it came out in 1985. The movie series/trilogy has become a very popular one. In 2015, on the 30th anniversary of the first movie, Vox wrote that it was the best blockbuster ever made.
At the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, there were more rumors that a fourth movie was being made. Sadly, we found that those claims were not valid.
In October 2022, a video on YouTube called “BACK TO THE FUTURE 4 (2023) Movie Teaser Trailer | Universal Pictures” was uploaded. When this was written, it had been seen more than 500,000 times.
It’s not the movie’s official trailer. The video can be found on the YouTube channel Screen Culture, which says it makes fan-made trailers for existing things.
On its About page, the channel said, “‘Screen Culture’ is home to exciting and extravagant ‘Concept/Fan-Made’ trailers from Marvel, DC, Star Wars, and many other movie universes.”

When Christopher Lloyd, one of the main actors in the first three “Back to the Future” movies, referenced the film on social media, many fans thought a fourth movie might be in the works. In the three films, he played Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown.
Lloyd tweeted on November 3, 2022, “I can’t tell you what it is yet, but it will be very special…
watch out!”
I can’t say yet, but the future holds something very special for you…stay tuned!
— Christopher Lloyd (@DocBrownLloyd) November 3, 2022
Michael J. Fox, the main character in the movie, asked on Instagram, “Doc and I are planning something big… Should we tell Mr. Christopher Lloyd?” Lloyd posted the same picture again later, saying they didn’t need to say anything yet because they had time.
It turned out that they were teasing a store based on the movie “Back to the Future.” When a fan replied to one of his tweets,
“Please, please don’t say you’re remaking BTTF,” Lloyd wrote, “We are not.”
In an interview with the entertainment website Collider in 2020, series co-writer Bob Gale said that there would never be a fourth movie: With the first three books, they had already told a complete story. He said, “There are a lot of sequels like that.” “We didn’t want to be the kind of people who made a movie just to make money.”
He also said that Steven Spielberg and his production company, Amblin Entertainment, had agreed that no other movie would be made without the writer’s approval or participation. The films were caused mainly by Amblin, the main company that made them.
Gale said,
“So it’s not going to happen.”
