Loring was born on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. At the time, Kwajalein Atoll was a United Nations Trust Territory run by the United States. She started modeling when she was three, and in 1964, she was in an episode of Dr. Kildare. In 1974, when she was 34, her mother died of alcoholism.
She was most well-known for playing Wednesday Addams on the TV show The Addams Family. She was one of the main cast members who had been there the longest. In 1966, she joined the cast of The Pruitts of Southampton, a TV show on ABC. She played Cricket Montgomery on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns from 1980 to 1983. She was also in three B-movies that were about killing people: Blood Frenzy, Iced, and Savage Harbor.
