The series highlights the life of Ken Kaneki, a college novice who discovers himself during the underground battle among the ghouls and the management. 

An academic school student, Ken ignorantly settles himself amid this battle when he runs on a date with Rize Kamishiro, an enthusiastic browser like himself. 

Hence, Rize is merely what she looks to be and is a devil in front, and unsurprisingly, the date expires in trouble for Ken; he hardly remains the encounter with Rize. 

In a twist of luck, though, Ken is saved by a servant named Touka Kirishima, and when Ken heals from his scars, he understands that he has become half-human and half-vampire.
