The Hallmark Channel will never be the same again now that Season 1 of The Way Home is over. The time-traveling family drama series wowed viewers with solid acting and twisty plots, completely changing our ideas of what a Hallmark Channel drama can be.
The show is about three generations of women, played by Chyler Leigh, Andie MacDowell, and Sadie Laflamme-Snow, who are all trying to understand and connect with each other. And what better way to get to know your mom than to find a way to go back in time and make friends with her when she was a teenager? If you think that sounds interesting, you might want to watch all The Way Home Season 1 in one sitting.
But if you’ve been watching The Way Home since the beginning, you might wonder what the future holds for Hallmark’s newest hit. Here’s everything we know about The Way Home Season 2 on Hallmark.
Will The Way Home Return For A Second Season On Hallmark?
Yes! Hallmark has already said that Season 2 of The Way Home will happen. Considering how big a hit The Way Home has been for the network since it started in January, that seems like a no-brainer. The show has done very well in the numbers, with 1.44 million people watching the first episode and 1.6 million people watching the penultimate episode of Season 1 two months later. A show that starts out with good ratings and keeps those ratings but improves on them? You keep watching that show!
Even more impressive is that The Way Home has often been the most-watched original scripted series on cable, even when significant sports events were on.
The Way Home Season 2 Release Date Details
Hallmark hasn’t said when the second season of The Way Home will start. But if you look at other Hallmark originals, they tend to come out about a year apart. Keeping this in mind, it’s possible that Season 2 of The Way Home will start airing on Hallmark in January 2024.
What Is The Way Home About?
According to the show’s official description, it’s about three generations of strong, independent women: Kat Landry (Chyler Leigh), her teen daughter Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow), and Kat’s mother Del (MacDowell). Kat left her small Canadian farm town because of events that changed her life over 20 years ago, and she still doesn’t talk to Del.
We all know how these stories end, though, don’t we? “When Kat’s life is at a turning point, she and Alice move back to her family’s farm, but the reunion isn’t what Kat had in mind,” the show’s description says. “When Alice and Kat find out by accident that they can go back and forth between the past and the present, they are determined to find out the truth about the tragedies that happened in the past and change how things went. Kat’s childhood friend Elliot, played by Evan Williams, is there for them both times and helps the three women find their way back to each other.

Who’s Returning For The Way Home Season 2?
It’s hard to think of a second season of the show without at least three stars. You can expect MacDowell to play Del Landry, Leigh to play Kat Landry, and Laflamme-Snow to play Alice Dhawan again. We also want Alex Hook to return because his role as Young Kat was so much fun to watch.
