The story revolves around Kirito and Asuna. Kirito, a second-year student at Aincrad University, is one of two people who survive an attack on their bodies by AI parasites called ‘Nerve Gear’ for brain control purposes inside the game world.
He saves by Asuna, another player whose body has been similarly invaded. After leaving the hospital, they meet up with Kayaba Akihiko, the creator of SAO, and investigate what happened.
