When did Diana and Charles separate?

What exactly did Diana have to sign in her divorce agreement?
For her divorce settlement, Princess Diana demands £35 million in the upcoming season of The Crown. She allegedly got a one-time payment of £17 million plus an annual salary of £400,000. Diana retained the title “Princess of Wales,” but was compelled to relinquish “Her Royal Highness.”
Reportedly, Queen Elizabeth II was fine with Diana keeping the title, but Charles reportedly wanted it taken away.
