Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, announced a law to make a new commission.
The commission would allow Congress to remove a president from office, using the 25th Amendment.
This happens just after the day she accused President Trump of being “in an altered state” from his coronavirus treatment.
On Friday, Pelosi does mention that the law has nothing to do with Trump.
She says “He will face the judgment of the voters. But he shows the need for us to create a process for future presidents.”
Pelosi also maintained that the election in no way has affected the timing of the law.
She said that the decision to set up one commission on presidential capacity is made primarily to “give some comfort to people” regarding the stability of the government.
Pelosi Says That They’re Going To Be Discussing About The 25TH Amendment
The writer of the bill, Rep. Jamie Raskin, joined Pelosi at the Capitol.
He said that the fact that Trump fell into the trap of the coronavirus highlights the requirement for a succession plan.
Raskin stated that it’s high time that people acted on the matter.
He added, “The 25th amendment is all about the stability of the presidency and the continuity of the office.”
On Thursday, Pelosi did preview the new law.
She told the reporters that she will talk about the ’25th Amendment’ the following day.
The 25th amendment gives the vice-president the right to become acting president once it’s determined that the president is unable to proceed with the office.
She questioned Trump’s health and also his behaviour past his coronavirus diagnosis.
Pelosi said the people have the right to know about Trump’s health condition.
Later, Trump did respond to her saying that Nancy is being crazy and she should be kept under observation instead.
The 25th Amendment permits the Congress, the cabinet and vice president to take away powers from a president. This can be done only when the president is deemed unfit under severe circumstances.
But for this to be applied, a 2/3 vote of both houses is needed.

On Friday, Pelosi and Raskin only proposed the part of “by law”.
They now have a bill, which needs to be passed by not one but both chambers of Congress. It must also be signed by the president.
That would lead to “the Commission on Presidential Capacity to Discharge the Powers and Duties of the Office.”
This commission, in turn, would examine the president’s viability for office.
Interestingly, Raskin did introduce a similar bill in the year 2017.
While the bill may be expected to pass the house of the Democrats, but it will be insane to think that it will pass that of Republicans.
There can only happen if there comes a significant development in the health of the President.
However, it must be taken into account that this law will bring forward a new political narrative just weeks before November 3rd.
