The Garfield Movie is a new animated comedy movie that’s being made in America. It’s based on the Garfield comics by Jim Davis. Columbia Pictures and Alcon Entertainment (which is making its first animated movie) are producing it. DNEG Animation is doing the animation, and Sony Pictures Releasing is in charge of getting it out to theaters.
The director is Mark Dindal, and the screenplay (or movie script) is written by Paul A. Kaplan, Mark Torgove, and David Reynolds. Chris Pratt is the main voice actor for Garfield. Other actors lending their voices include Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein, and Bowen Yang.
Work on this new Garfield movie started back in May 2016. They had producers and writers ready then. Dindal was chosen to direct the movie in November 2018, and they started getting things ready the next month.
In August 2019, a company called Viacom got most of the rights to Garfield, but the movie still went ahead. Then in November 2021, Sony got the rights to distribute the movie, and they chose Chris Pratt to voice Garfield. The rest of the voice actors were added in 2022. John Debney, who often works with Dindal, is creating the music.
Garfield Movie 2024 Release Date
Firstly Garfield’s original release date was February 16th, 2024.’The Garfield Movie is now expected to be scheduled for a wide-scale debut on Friday, May 24th of that year. There is no confirmed date for its release yet. The film’s release date, Memorial Day, puts it in direct competition with other highly anticipated movies like “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” and “Furiosa,” the prequel to “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

Garfield Movie 2024 Trailer
On November 13th, 2023, the first trailer for “The Garfield Movie” premiered. It established the tone for a hilarious journey by having a lovely infant Garfield plotting to enter a restaurant. The plot revolves around spoiled Garfield and his dog pal Odie embarking on an exciting outdoor trip after the kitty’s unexpected reunion with his father, Vic, leads to a high-stakes theft.

In the Garfield clip, viewers can hear Pratt for the first time as the lasagna-obsessed cat. Pratt’s portrayal of Garfield in the trailer is similarly sluggish, and the cat’s voice is eerily similar to Pratt’s own. This first look at The Garfield Movie promises to elicit passionate responses from viewers once again.
