The show’s fans are now wondering when Season 2 will come out. Here’s what we know so far about Season 2 of Dr. Death.
Dr. Death Season 2: Renewed Or Cancelled?
According to Variety That Peacock has picked up “Dr. Death” for a second season. But while the first season was all about the case of Dr. Christopher Duntsch, the show will now follow a different topic each season in an anthology-style format.
Dr. Death Season 2 Release Date?
The second season of Dr. Death has not yet been given a release date. As of right now, the show will likely air sometime in 2023.
Dr. Death Season 2 Plot
Since the first podcast was a collection of stories from different times of the year, the second season of Dr. Death will be a whole new story. According to a report from Variety, this is how Season Two of Dr. Death will go:
Season 2 will tell the story of Paolo Macchiarini, a charming surgeon known for his innovative surgeries, which have earned him the nickname “miracle man.” When investigative journalist Benita Alexander asks him for a story, the line between her personal and professional lives starts to blur, which changes her life for the better.
As she learns how far Paolo will go to keep his secrets safe, a group of doctors on the other side of the world makes shocking discoveries that make her question everything she knows about the “miracle man.”
This fits with what was said in the podcast. Kirby and Henderson spent most of the first season following Duntsch; season two will be more about Macchiarini and Alexander’s relationship.
The phrase “group of doctors halfway around the world” suggests a level of globetrotting that wasn’t seen in the first season. This could expand the show’s scope and take us around the world. It’s still unclear if Kirby and Henderson will return as those doctors.
Dr. Death Season 2 Cast And Crew
As of this writing, not much is known about the cast and crew of Dr. Death’s second season. But Paolo Macchiarini and Benita Alexander have been officially cast as the main characters for the season.
The magazine Variety says that Edgar Ramirez will play the part of Paolo Macchiarini. The Venezuelan actor played the famous fashion icon Gianni Versace in the second season of FX’s American Crime Story. He has also had more than one role in Jungle Cruise, The Last Days of American Crime, and The Undoing. Based on how well he did in other crime-themed shows, he’ll be great at playing a sneaky, wrong doctor.
Mandy Moore will play Benita Alexander. Moore has made a name for herself in recent years with her roles in This Is Us and Tangled. The actress is also known for her music career. From 1999 to 2022, she released seven albums. Her first album, So Real, was certified platinum.
Patrick Macmanus, who ran the show for the first season, will now be responsible for the second season. Macmanus was an executive producer for the darkly comedic Syfy show Happy!, based on the same-named graphic novel. He will hand over control to Ashley Michel Hoban, who worked with him on Happy! and was a producer for the first season of Dr. Death.
Jennifer Morrison, known for her roles as Dr. Cameron on House M.D. and Emma Swan on Once Upon a Time, will return to direct the first four episodes. Laura Belsey, who has worked on many movies and TV shows like The Walking Dead, Arrow, and Criminal Minds, will be in charge of directing the last four episodes.
