Kamala Harris, the Vice Presidential candidate from the Democratic Party, who will campaign alongside Presidential nominee Joe Biden, has launched a scathing attack on President Donald Trump. She specifically focused on Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Kamala Harris Attacks Donald Trump Over Coronavirus Response
“Here’s what you have to understand about the nature of a pandemic: It’s relentless. You can’t stop it with the tweet,” she said, according to the LA Times. “Instead of rising to meet the most difficult moment of his presidency, Donald Trump froze. He was scared. And he was petty and vindictive.”
She also took aim at the Republican Party and the Republican National Convention. “The Republican convention is designed for one purpose, to soothe Donald Trump’s ego, to make him feel good,” she said.
Joe Biden Criticises Trump’s Divisive Narrative
Joe Biden didn’t pull any punches when speaking about Donald Trump, either. He attacked the President’s divisive narrative, claiming that he was often “rooting for violence”. Biden made these comments in the context of the recent protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
These protests are in response to another police shooting, this time involving Jacob Blake. Police reportedly shot Blake, a black man, seven times while trying to apprehend him. Both Biden and Harris expressed solidarity with the protesters, too.
Biden And Harris Show Solidarity With Kenosha Protesters
“I’m going to work to calm the tensions and root out systemic racism. I’m going to lead,” he said. Kamala Harris also made sure to distinguish between those protesting peacefully and those rioting and looting. She said that no one should confuse protesters with vigilantes and extremists, but should support those seeking justice.
Biden and Harris’ campaign isn’t afraid of below-the-belt attacks, either. One of Biden’s recent ads showed that he was still physically active. This ad highlighted a shot that showed Biden jogging up a ramp.
