Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have officially married, according to a source close to Lopez. The couple married on Saturday in an “intimate ceremony in Las Vegas,” according to the source. Lopez confirmed the wedding in her newsletter on Sunday, signing off with a new name: Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck.
“Last night, we flew to Vegas and stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the world’s wedding capital,” Lopez wrote. “We barely made it to the little white wedding chapel before it closed at midnight. They graciously stayed open a few minutes later, allowing us to take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, clearly once used by the king himself (but if we wanted Elvis to show up that cost extra, and he was in bed).”
Lopez said she wore an old movie dress, and Affleck wore a jacket from his closet. “In the little chapel, we read our own vows and gave each other the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives,” she wrote. “In the end, it was the best wedding we could have hoped for.”
The Bennifer love story has been in the works for over 20 years. The couple first met on the set of the rom-com “Gigli” in December 2001, where they played criminals stuck on a job together and struck up a real-life friendship. The two were engaged by November 2002, but their wedding was postponed in September 2003 due to “excessive media attention” surrounding their wedding.
They never made it down the aisle and ended their engagement in January 2004. It took another 17 years, through children and marriages, for Lopez and Affleck to find their way back to each other. Lopez was soaking in a bubble bath when Affleck proposed again in April.
“I was completely caught off guard and just looked in his eyes, smiling and crying at the same time, trying to wrap my head around the fact that this was happening all over again after 20 years, I was literally speechless, and he said, ‘is that a yes?’ Of course, that’s a YES, I said “She stated this in her newsletter.
