Ahsoka Episodes 9: Many Disney+ subscribers were left begging for more after the cliffhanger ending of episode 8. This is especially true for fans of the animated Star Wars episodes The Clone Wars and Rebels.
Ahsoka Episode 8’s Cliffhanger Ending
The series’ main characters, Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, Baylan Skoll, and Shin Hati, were left stranded on Peridea in the far reaches of the galaxy after spending the entire season trying to locate and rescue their various adversaries, including Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn.

In the central Star Wars galaxy, Thrawn establishes a base on Dathomir, the ancient homeworld of the Nightsisters, after a carefully orchestrated escape from the legendary planet with strange cargo on board his Star Destroyer.
After sneaking onboard the Chimaera, Ezra stole a shuttle and found the rest of the New Republic fleet, including his old friends Hera and Chopper.
While Baylan returned to his hunt for the source of the enigmatic Force that had been beckoning to him, Shin appeared to ally with a tribe of nomadic outlaws on Peridea, which likely had ties to the Mortis Gods and their use of the Force.
Meanwhile, Ahsoka and Sabine hide out with the Noti, where they form a close friendship over their goal under the watchful eye of an old friend.
Ahsoka Episodes 9 Won’t Return
Unfortunately, episode 9 will not be airing to satisfy those expecting the dramatic cliffhanger to be resolved.
That’s because, like The Mandalorian, each season of the Ahsoka series was only supposed to feature eight episodes.
- Master and Apprentice
- Toil and Trouble
- Time to Fly
- Fallen Jedi
- Shadow Warrior
- Far, Far Away
- Dreams and Madness
- The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord
Expect The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and the other New Republic-era programs to all come together in an Avengers-style crossover event in the next movie planned to be written and directed by Dave Filoni.
When Will the Next Star Wars Film Come Out?
After Ahsoka wraps up, Skeleton Crew will likely be the next Star Wars series to premiere on Disney+.
The show was created by Tom Holland’s Spider-Man director, Jon Watts, who was influenced by the action-adventure films of the Amblin studio, such as The Goonies and E.T.
In this series, Jude Law will play a Jedi Knight who, in the same era as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, embarks on a galactic journey with a group of young heroes.
The release of Skeleton Crew was initially scheduled for late 2023, but the recent and ongoing strikes by the show’s writers and actors have pushed back the release date until 2024 at the earliest.
The Acolyte, a show focused on the Sith, season 2 of Andor, and season 4 of The Mandalorian are also in the works as live-action series. The publication dates of The Acolyte and Andor, both of which had been planned for 2024, are currently unknown.

Ahsoka Fans Plead for More
Many Ahsoka viewers were left hanging by the cliffhanger at the end of Episode 8, prompting many of them to resort to social media to demand more.
In the meantime, someone else joked, “Dave Filoni (acting as if his dog hadn’t eaten the script for Ahsoka episode 9): I believe the number of attacks we decided on is 8.
The Ahsoka finale finished precisely how I expected it to end with that cliffhanger,” says another fan who hopes the character will return for a sequel. They didn’t really sell it as an emergency, though. However, it does establish the foundation for an Ahsoka season 2.
Finally, this fan joked that they were trying to convince themselves that another episode was on the way: “Yup, nothing to see here; I’m definitely not entering de lulu land because if I believe that Ahsoka has ended, I might faint.” Episode 9 airs next week, so get ready for that.
