Lena Gieseke was born in Bremen, Germany, on September 12, 1965. Gieseke got his Bachelor of Science in Computer Graphics from the Universitat Koblenz-Landau, Campus Koblenz, in 2004. Later, she got a one-year DAAD scholarship to study Artificial Intelligence at the University of Georgia.

In 2007, Lena got her Master of Fine Arts degree in 3D computer animation. In 2018, she got her Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Stuttgart.

Lena Gieseke’s first job was a three-month internship as a 3D generalist at Perpetual Motion in Athens, Georgia. This was in 2005. In June 2006, the company hired a photographer for the same job. Lena worked for the company until September 2006. After that, she went to Method in Motion in Los Angeles, California, where she stayed until December 2007. In July 2008, Gieseke started working as a scripting, pipeline, and research and development technical director at Scanline VFX, a visual effects company in Munich, Germany. 

Lena Gieseke kept working in the movie business after she split up with Tim Burton. After the ordeal, her first movie was 1 12 Knights: In Search of the Ravishing Princess Herzelinde (2008). The movie was her first job in visual effects, which she did for three years. She worked on the TV movie Die Jahrhundertlawine in the same year.

She worked on three different movies in 2009. Lena Gieseke’s first movie was called Vicky the Viking, in which she played an animation artist working in R&D. Berlin 36 was the next movie, and she worked on it as an animator and did research and development (Scanline VFX).

They fell in love while taking photos for Tim Burton. The two started seeing each other almost right away. Lena and Tim got married on February 24, 1989, in a small ceremony attended by close family and friends.

Burton is a master of dark art with weird characters that come from horror films. Burton got his degree in animation from the California Institute of the Arts. He was first hired by Walt Disney Studios as an animation apprentice.
