Who is Charisse Mcgill? What Was Her Cause of Death?

McGill was a trailblazing local food entrepreneur known for her creative business sense and commitment to the community. She voluntarily left her position as the director of special events at Valley Forge Military Academy and oversaw the Lansdale Farmers Market before founding and becoming the proprietor of Lokal Artisan Foods.

Madison, her young child at the time, sold lemonade to help raise the startup capital for the business. Madison will keep contributing to the company’s management.

Charisse Mcgill Cause of Death

A Philadelphia small company owner who made history has passed away. The inventor of French Toast Bites, Charisse McGill, died on January 15 at the age of 42. Her cause of death is unclear at this point. She just rose to become the Farmers Market Coalition’s first Black woman executive director.

In Philadelphia, McGill launched her first French Toast Bites kiosk the following year. In 2020, she made history as the first Black woman to own and run a restaurant at Penn’s Landing’s Cherry Street Pier. Yard’s Brewing Company sells McGill’s “French Toast Bites Ale,” a trademark handmade beer that made her the first Black woman in Pennsylvania.

“My daughter, who’s almost 18 now, first started her lemonade business when she was just 12 years old,” McGill said in an interview with The Philadelphia Tribune from September 2023. She made $6,000 selling lemonade over fourteen Saturdays in the summer. An identical incident occurred the following summer.

Due to the success of her mouthwatering French Toast Bites, which regularly sell out at busy local sites like Spruce Street Harbour Park and Cherry Street Pier, McGill’s business has gained recognition since its 2018 launch.

She made history in 2021 when she collaborated with Yards Brewing Company to introduce French Toast Ale, being the first Black woman to have a specialty beer in Pennsylvania. Eventually, her company would produce spice and coffee goods based on her popular French toast pieces.
