On September 12, 2023, the MTV Video Music Awards 2023 were held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. The awards were for the best music videos and pop culture of the year. Nicki Minaj ran the show and sang her hit song “Super Freaky Girl,” which was up for video of the year.

Swift gave a speech in which she thanked her fans, her director Joseph Kahn, and her co-stars. She also gave the award to all the people who aren’t stars but still stand up for what they believe in.
Artist of the Year: Taylor Swift
Swift also beat Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Karol G, Nicki Minaj, and Shakira to win the Artist of the Year award. She thanked her fans for their support and said it was an honor to be in the same group as such great artists. She also said that she was proud of the music she had made in the past year and that she hoped her songs would inspire other people.
Song of the Year: Taylor Swift – “Anti-Hero”
Swift’s song “Anti-Hero,” which was also nominated for Record of the Year and Album of the Year at the Grammys, won the award for Song of the Year. This made it the third award she won at the ceremony.

Best New Artist: Olivia Rodrigo

Best Hip-Hop: Nicki Minaj – “Super Freaky Girl”
Nicki Minaj won the award for best hip-hop for her “Super Freaky Girl” video, which shows her in different clothes and situations. Best R&B: SZA – “Kill Bill”
SZA got the Best R&B award for her cinematic music video “Kill Bill,” in which she plays a killer who wants to get back at a group of men who hurt her. The same-named film series by Quentin Tarantino was the inspiration for the video, which also made references to movies like Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill Vol. 2.

Stray Kids made history when they became the first K-pop group to win both the Best K-pop and Best Group awards. They got the best K-pop award for their energetic video “Sugar Rush Ride,” which shows them in a futuristic amusement park.

The 2023 Video Music Awards were a night for the music business and fans to celebrate, honor, and have fun.
