Twitch has permanently banned Guy Beahm, aka Dr Disrespect from their platform. Dr Disrespect is somewhat controversial and has been banned before. However, he has always returned after his ban period and continued to be one of the most popular streamers on Twitch.
Twitch Has Given No Reason For Dr Disrespect’s Ban
The situation this time seems different than before, though. Twitch, for their part, seem quite serious about this permanent ban. Another part of this situation that adds to the mystery is the fact that neither Twitch nor Dr Disrespect have said much about it.
Twitch has only issued a single, general statement that isn’t even specifically related to Dr Disrespect. “As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community,” they said, according to The Verge.
Beahm Himself Doesn’t Know Why He’s Banned From Twitch
Also, after hours of silence, Dr Disrespect himself took to his Twitter to respond to these reports. Even his tweet didn’t clarify much for the public, though.
“Champions Club, Twitch has not notified me on the specific reason behind their decision… Firm handshakes to all for the support during this difficult time. -Dr Disrespect,” he wrote. The fact that Twitch isn’t even telling him why they’ve banned him makes this whole situation even more bizarre.
Reason Behind Dr Disrespect’s Twitch Ban “Sensitive”
With little concrete information available, many people have taken to analysing the final few minutes of Dr Disrespect’s last stream. In this footage, Beahm seems visibly distraught at something. His demeanour and his tone of voice change completely after receiving what appears to be a message on his phone.
According to Twitter user Rod Breslau, the reason behind Dr Disrespect’s ban is quite sensitive. He claims that several credible sources have told him why Twitch has banned him. However, he also reiterates that he doesn’t feel comfortable sharing it with the public.
Any users who were subscribed to Dr Disrespect, either normally or via Twitch Prime are receiving refunds for it.
