The U.S. President, Donald Trump, has presented the latest warning against education that tries to focus on racism in America.
Last Sunday, Trump said that the concerned authorities will look into the matter of whether the California public schools have included the NY Times‘ 1619 Project in their curriculum.
The Pulitzer Prize- winning initiative teaches about American history, beginning with the arrival of the slaves to Virginia in 1619. The project brings to light the various consequences of slavery and the contributions of Black Americans.
Trump tweeted on 6th September, “Department of Education is looking at this. If so, they will not be funded!” Trump also linked a tweet from an unverified account stating that California schools were using the curriculum.
The White House did not issue any clarification that day on the same.
Trump Earlier Announced Of Putting An End To Anti-Racism Training

The warning follows Trump’s also comes Friday announcement where he declared that the federal agencies are asked to put an end to all anti-racism training. Especially those involving critical race theory.
This theory looks at race as a social construct that the white people use to preserve institutional racism at the expense price of the coloured people.
The Trump administration claims that the anti-racism training sessions are “divisive, anti-American propaganda”. Also, such training which suggests that racism is part of the foundation of America undermines the fundamental values of the government.

Is There Any Basis For The Announcements?
Till now there is no decisive evidence on how much training the federal agencies are actually offering.
On the same line, the extent of the inclusion of the 1619 project in the curriculum of schools is unclear. However, the curriculum is there online to access for free and can be found through the Pulitzer Centre.
The Republican Sen. Tom Cotton recently introduced the Saving American History Act of 2020.
He says “The New York Times’s 1619 Project is a racially divisive, revisionist account of history…Not a single cent of federal funding should go to indoctrinate young Americans with this left-wing garbage”.
