The anticipation for the release of the Tesla Model 3 Project Highland update has reached a fever pitch. Numerous prototypes of the vehicle have been spotted, and photos of purported components are being shared online. Customers who place a Model 3 reservation reportedly have the option of accepting delivery of a current-generation vehicle with multiple incentives or waiting for a Project Highland vehicle.
According to a recent report on the Chinese business information platform Hixiu, the release of the Tesla Model 3 Project Highland is imminent, with the platform noting that the vehicle could be released as early as September’s beginning.
Hixiu, citing sources close to Tesla, asserted that employees have entered a state of “war preparation” as they prepare for the launch of Project Highland. If the report is accurate, it would indicate that Tesla China is preparing for the release of the updated vehicle. The release of the Project Highland upgrade for the Model 3 has been eagerly anticipated.
After all, the vehicle has remained largely unchanged since its 2016 introduction. Granted, the Model 3 received a refresh in late 2020, but the changes included new wheels, a redesigned centre compartment, and a powered trunk. According to previous reports, the modifications made to the Model 3 Project Highland will be substantial. The vehicle’s interior is anticipated to be updated with a new infotainment system comparable to that of the Model S and Model X. This indicates that the Model 3 Project Highland will likely lack shifter stalks and instead utilize a touchscreen in the centre console.
On the exterior, the Model 3 Project Highland is anticipated to feature a completely redesigned front fascia with new headlamps, no fog lights, and a revised camera arrangement. Also anticipated are updated taillights and new rims for the vehicle. It is anticipated that the Model 3 Project Highland will be simpler to produce and ramp up. We’ll be sharing exclusive details about the upcoming Tesla Highland (Model 3 Revamp) next week. 🚗
Until then, we suggest those in the Fremont area to keep an eye out for any prototypes being driven around. As always, we ask for you to be respectful and mindful to employees. pic.twitter.com/s95AGcodIy

As Hixiu observed, it is quite extraordinary that the Tesla Model 3 of the current generation continues to perform so well on the domestic auto market despite having changed little over the years. In the Chinese EV market, cars that are not updated frequently enough risk being derided. Despite its younger competition, Tesla’s over-the-air software updates have made the Model 3 competitive. And with Project Highland in play, the Tesla Model 3’s momentum would likely be even more noteworthy.

Model 3 Gets a Stunning Refresh: Project Highland Unveiled
After enjoying six years of tremendous success with over two million units sold globally, Tesla has decided to give its Model 3 a refreshing makeover. This updated version, internally referred to as Project Highland, has become one of the most eagerly anticipated electric vehicles of the year, thanks to numerous spy shots and speculations that fueled public excitement.
The revamped Model 3 boasts a more sculpted appearance, showcasing redesigned front and rear elements, along with significant interior enhancements. Tesla has also worked on improving its aerodynamics, resulting in increased range and a reduction in both drag and wind noise. It’s worth noting that these updates are currently available for the rear-wheel-drive and long-range (LR) variants of the Model 3.
Sleeker Design
The front of the car looks sharper now, with cleaner lines, redesigned headlights, and new LED daytime running lights. The line along the edge of the hood, which used to end under the headlights, is now more defined and goes all the way to the fenders. The side of the car hasn’t changed, but the back has new C-shaped taillights that wrap around, and the Tesla logo has been replaced with the word “Tesla” spelt out. The wheels have a new design, with multiple spokes. They’re also offering two new colours: Ultra Red and Stealth Gray.
In terms of size, the car is just a bit longer, about an inch, now measuring 185.8 inches. It’s a tiny bit shorter in height, now 56.7 inches. The clearance above the ground is also a bit lower, going from 5.5 inches to 5.4 inches.
Availability
The new Model 3 will start being delivered in Europe and the Middle East by late October. Tesla is expected to provide information about the North American model and when it will be available shortly.

Production of the updated Model 3 has already begun at Gigafactory Shanghai, which is Tesla’s biggest production facility and serves as a global export centre. The North American version will probably be made in the United States at Tesla’s Fremont facility in California, where test vehicles have been spotted numerous times. If you want to check out more interesting articles like this then you can join us on our website thetecheducation.com.
