On Wednesday, February 20, the ABC Chief Business, Economics, and Technology Correspondent and her husband Matthew Hanson welcomed their first child, a daughter named Isabel Noemi Jarvis Hanson.
Jarvis, 37, posted the first image of her baby on Instagram on February 26. She captioned the post, saying, “Your Daddy and I have never known happiness like this.”

The journalist disclosed that she had undergone multiple rounds of in vitro fertilization due to infertility and that her journey to pregnancy had not been straightforward.
One of the things that we talked a lot about beforehand was whether or not another person … that could we even ask another person to do something like that, to do that with their body, Jarvis said. “And it was really through the process of talking to a lot of people and then getting to know our angel, our surrogate, understanding that she considered this one of the greatest things she could do … one of the greatest gifts she could give the world.
When we left New York to witness the birth, I couldn’t get over how surreal the whole thing was, she said. That and just feeling so happy, but also how strange it was that we were gonna get on an airplane, fly across the country, and, God willing, come home with a baby boy. “Congratulations to our very own @rebeccajarvis and her family, who have welcomed their son Leo via surrogacy!”

Jarvis also received his high school diploma from St. Paul Academy in 1999. In a similar vein, in 2003 she earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Chicago. In addition, she began working for Bank of America as an analyst in 2003. She started working as a writer for Crain’s Chicago Business in 2006. Similarly, Jarvis was a CNBC reporter from 2006 to 2009.
