‘Quiet Mode’ In Facebook
On Thursday, Facebook released a feature- ‘Quiet Mode’. This feature gives you a break from social media. It basically turns off the notifications.
Introduction
This new feature is introduced to keep away people from social media for some time. Recently, due to the outbreak of coronavirus, the lockdown was announced.
As a result, people started spending more time on social media. But, we all are aware of the consequences of continuous use. Major being, the problem in eyesight, depression and stress. To tackle these issues the feature was released.
Reason for Release
Specifically, teenagers use social media the most. We all know this is the only way to stay connected during the time of social distancing.
But, with benefits, some short-comings are always there. Sitting idly in front of laptops or using phones continuously is not good for mental as well as physical health.
As a result, other similar features, like how to remove “like viewing” option on Facebook and Instagram are also under testing.
How To Access ‘Quite Mode’
For accessing quiet mode, first, go to ‘settings’ on the menu. Then, click on your ‘time’ on Facebook. After that, schedule “quiet mode” for some time by going on ‘manage your time’. Then, it will start showing you your break time from Facebook.
Note, this feature is currently working only on i-phones and will be released on androids in may.
Important Information
Facebook is also showing how much time a person is spending on Facebook. How many times you opened it in a day or in a week. Also, it compares your weekly usage, i.e., whether it is increasing or decreasing. Therefore, giving people a check of their social media usage. This will help them manage their time on Facebook. Helping, them to use it in a safe way, not compromising their mental or physical well being.
