Currently, NASA is tracking an asteroid that is double the size of the Great Pyramid of Giza. The enormous rocky mass is estimated to be 270m wide and is speeding towards the Earth’s surface at a speed of 31,400 mph.

Details of the Asteroid
It appears that the it will have a diameter between 0.121 to 0.272 kilometres. That makes its size almost twice that of the Great Pyramid.
Something which is hard for us to imagine, let alone accept.
This particular asteroid first came into account in the year 2010 and was classified as a Near Earth Object (NEO). The term NEO denotes any asteroid or comet which arrives within 1.3 AU from the Sun. 1 AU refers to the average distance between our planet and the Sun.
NEO’s refers to the comets and asteroids that are pushed by the gravitational attraction of nearby planets into orbits that allow them to enter the Earth’s neighbourhood’.

The 465824 (2010 FR) is categorised as a Potentially Hazardous Asteroid (PHA), based on how closely it will be passing by the Earth. But we have no reason to worry about as the scientists have already stated that it will cause us no harm.
Also, it has been classified as an Apollo asteroid, referring to the fact that it will cross the Earth’s orbit.
When Is It Due?

The asteroid, 465824 (2010 FR), will be striking the orbit of the Earth on the 6th of this month. It will be passing within 7,412,769 km of Earth. Also, NASA has reported that it will pass by our planet at roughly 8:08 a.m. EST.
What’s New About This Asteroid?
Interestingly, Earth has not encountered an asteroid of such a monstrous size since the one that brought about the end of the dinosaurs.
This year NASA also recorded a space rock of te size of an SUV, rushing past the Earth. That has been the closest flyby ever to be registered.
