Michael drove for the “WTS” team in the “Formula 3” championship in Germany in 1990. As part of the Mercedes junior racing program, he took part in the World Sports-Prototype Championship that same year. The next year, the young driver took part in a “Formula One” race for the “Jordan Grand Prix” team and finished seventh. In the same year, he beat Nelson Piquet to get fifth place in the “Italian Grand Prix.”
At the same year’s “Australian Grand Prix,” the racer and British racer Damon Hill got into an accident. After that, the English media said that Schumacher was to blame. In the 2005 “Formula One” championship, the rules were changed so that drivers could only use one set of tyres for the whole race.
The “Ferrari” team used “Bridgestone” tires, which had to be replaced often. When the rules changed, most of the races were won by teams with “Michelin” tyres, and the six drivers with “Bridgestone” tyres had to drop out.
In 2005, Schumacher only won one race, the “United States Grand Prix,” where he finished third and got a total of 62 points.
