ABC’s ’20/20′ follows the story of Joseph Lyle Menendez and Erik Galen Menendez, who were both convicted in 1996 of their parents’ 1989 murders, José and Mary “Kitty” Menendez.

Menendez Brothers Wives
Joseph Lyle Menendez, who goes by his middle name, was previously married to former model Anna Eriksson. They met when she wrote to him during his first televised murder trial in 1993, resulting in a trusting relationship.
Indeed, they planned to marry within months after her first visit to Lyle in jail. On July 2, 1996, Lyle’s lawyer and aunt attended their wedding ceremony, which was held in prison by a judge.

Lyle married Rebecca Sneed, a magazine editor from Sacramento, California, two years later, in November 2003. They, too, had met about the time of Lyle’s initial trial, but they remained friends for most of the following decade.
Erik Menendez married Tammi Ruth Saccoman, now Tammi Menendez, in a Folsom State Prison waiting room on June 12, 1999. According to Tammi, their wedding cake was a Twinkie.
Tammi, like Anna, had seen the brothers’ first trial in 1993 and corresponded to Erik, but their connection progressed only after her first husband committed suicide.

Since marrying the convicted felon, Rebecca Sneed, Lyle Menendez’s wife, has kept a low profile, avoiding any media inquiries regarding their relationship and personal life.
We know that she has changed careers and is now a defense attorney. Given their union’s longevity of over 17 years, despite COVID, no visits, and everything else, we believe it’s reasonable to conclude their connection is unmatched.
Lyle did speak briefly about his unconventional marriage on ABC’s ‘Truth and Lies: The Menendez Brothers’ in 2017. After all, according to California law, Lyle and Erik are prohibited from conjugal visits as life without parole convicts.
“One thing I’ve learned is that physical comfort is much less essential than connecting with others around you,” Lyle said. “I’ve discovered that I can have a strong marriage that is complex and based around talking and finding innovative ways to connect and sharing, without all the traditional marital props, such as going out to dinner and spending as much personal time together as possible.”
Tammi voiced a similar attitude in 2005, telling People that she does not need a sex life since she is emotionally engaged to Erik in a manner she has never been.
Tammi wrote a book titled ‘They Said We’d Never Make It — My Life with Erik Menendez’ the same year. Tammi disclosed during the book’s promotion not only that she temporarily lived with Lyle’s wife, where they learned they didn’t get along, but also that her daughter refers to Erik as her “Earth Dad.” “Tammi is what sustains me,” Erik added.
