The monument’s plinth was destroyed after the teenager wrote, “is a racist” with yellow paint.
There was a ten days Extinction Rebellion Protest in London. 680 people were arrested as they were connected to it. Benjamin Clark was one of them.
Other than Clarke some were held suspicion for blocking the highway and breaching conditions of protest. The protest began on September 1 and the breached conditions were under the Public Order Act.
The protest was described as “significant challenge” during a public health crisis” by Commander Jane Connors.

She further added: “The public have a right to protest, but they do not have a right to cause disruption to the communities and businesses across London. That is why we took swift action to make a number of arrests,”
“This has been a large policing operation and we will continue to investigate those who we suspect to have committed offences, so the number of arrests is likely to rise.”
