A school bus and a car were involved in a sad accident that killed a small child and hurt six other people. The crash happened fast and hard. After the accident, the young driver, a passenger, and two other kids who were in the car were taken to Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro for medical care.
The accident also caused minor injuries to a 12-year-old Hairston Middle School student and the bus driver. State police say that Kie Landon Johnson, who was 17 and from Whitsett, Tennessee, died at the crash site on Knox Road, south of McLeansville, at about 4:30 in the afternoon.
In the southbound lane of Knox Road, 18-year-old Jacob Almon Larkin of Whitsett was driving his Toyota when it hit the center line and went into the path of a school bus going north. Our town has been shook by this terrible tragedy, and none of us can find comfort or hope. During this very hard time, Kie Landon Johnson’s family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers.

All of those involved have felt both physical and mental effects from this event, and we are here to help and support you in any way we can.
We live in a close-knit community, and when things are hard, we all come together to help and support each other. We hope that everyone will reach out to friends and neighbors who may have been hurt by this tragedy and give them the support and help they need.
It’s also important to remember how bravely the school bus driver handled the hard job of keeping the other kids safe. They should be praised for how quickly they thought of a solution and how much they cared about the kids.
