Lady Gaga’s Father Joins 456 NYC Restaurant Owners Suing Governor And Mayor!
Joe Germanotta, Lady Gaga’s father, joins 456 New York City restaurant owners suing Governor Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio. Joe appealed for loss of over $2 billion which is the result for the ban of indoor dining in this pandemic situation.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Indoor dining in the city of New York was banned since March 2020. Finally, after June 22, 2020, restaurants and bars opened in the city, maintaining social distancing and other preventive measures. Outdoor dining rules included wearing masks while not having food or drink; diners must stay 6ft apart from each other and many more.
This outdoor dining thing is about to end on October 31, 2020. But still, no such indoor dining scheme has been prepared. 456 NYC restaurant owners filed a case against the city and state. Joe Germanotta, the owner of Joanne Trattoria restaurant in Manhattan, is one of them. He said that outdoor dining is not possible in the long run. He also added that it has many disadvantages.
‘When it rains we gotta close. Once it starts getting cold, the place will be empty.’
‘Once the weather gets cold, we are pretty much out of business.’ Joe said.
The report says that the rate of spread of Covid-19 disease has dropped as compared to it was at the beginning. So keeping in mind the condition of the restaurant owners, Joe said, ‘It’s so sad because I’m watching some of my dear friends that own places, shut down.
‘Something has to be done. They’re not listening; they’re not hearing, they’re just not being realistic. They’ve got to put themselves in our shoes; they’re still getting a paycheck, these people are suffering.
‘Without the indoor dining I am just about breaking even, which is fine, it’s a family-run business, but it is going to be tight, especially when winter hits.
‘The whole situation affects the entire supply chain. It will affect the governor and the city and the tax base. We have taken the precautions. I was ready on July 6.’
Governor’s and Mayor’s Opinion
On the other hand, Governor Andrew Cuomo is not giving permission to reopen the city restaurants for indoor dining amidst this Covid-19 pandemic.
Cuomo said on a call with some reporters, “These institutions are under dire economic circumstances. And we know that compliance has to happen. We open restaurants, that’s going to complicate by the hundreds if not thousands the number of establishments that need to be monitored.”
In June 2020, Mayor Bill de Blasio was about to allow indoor dining but was opposed by Cuomo’s third policy on the matter. Also, according to health experts, it won’t be a wise decision to reopen restaurants with indoor dining facilities. This is because the virus has still not disappeared. Also, few cases were found in Louisiana and Maryland linked with restaurants.
