Jon Scheyer Professional Career
Despite his successful college career, Scheyer went undrafted in the 2010 NBA Draft. He took part in the Miami Heat Las Vegas Summer League in 2010, but during a match, he sustained a serious eye injury. Despite encountering obstacles in his quest for a professional playing career, he went on to play for teams like Gran Canaria, Maccabi Tel Aviv, and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
In 2013, Scheyer became a special assistant on the Duke men’s basketball coaching staff after finishing his playing career. By 2014, he had worked his way up to become a full-time assistant coach. When Mike Krzyzewski was unable to lead Duke to victory over Boston College in 2021 due to COVID-19, he filled in as interim head coach.
