Jaden Smith or say ‘Jaden’, 22 revealed about this transition in an interview with Apple music and Zane Lowe.

He said that he was inspired by his sister who no longer goes by the name Willow Smith. At first he was low profile about this, but he recently revealed about his decision.

Jaden Smith is a Jack of many trades, perhaps Master of a few too. His multifaceted careers include singing, music, clothing brand, movies, water filtration service and many others.

He felt that Willow’s decision of changing her name was “powerful “. He could then be his person, than be identified with his folks. Well, does he want to dissociate from his parents pertaining the drama revealed in the recent time?

Why did he change his name ?

Jaden said that, “I make different characters for myself and that’s also one of the reasons I love Bowie so much, but I create different characters for myself and its like Jaden that’s music, Jaden Smith is like,501(c) (3) that’s acting in movies.

“I wanted to make that little distinction there, just a little bit so that I could just, ….. different things are happening.”

With different things do we assume about his relationship with his parents? Maybe he wants to be identified only by himself, mark his sole territory. No involvement, just a space for himself.

He’s rather appreciated Willow’s decision and said, “It took me a while…..If you look at Willow Smith up it will still come up….but yea it took me a while to see its just Willow. And I was like ‘yo thats so strong…..you feel like you don’t have to say your last name. You are just Willow. ”

And that is what he too wants to be just “Jaden.”

Recently in the interview with Zane Lowe, Jaden also openly spoke about the “anxiety issues ” he faced with both work and family issues.
