George Anthony Devolder Santos is an American politician who was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022. He represents New York’s 3rd congressional district. His district includes a part of northern Long Island and northeast Queens. He is a member of the Republican Party.
Santos has told many lies about his life story, jobs, and finances, both public and private. In September 2022, a local Long Island newspaper called The North Shore Leader started asking questions about his finances. Before the election, no other news source picked up on the story. Six weeks after the election, many news outlets started saying that much of what he said about himself seemed to be made up. This includes his ancestry, education, job, charity work, property ownership, and crimes he said he was the victim of. Santos has said that he lied, and as of the end of December 2022, federal, state, and county authorities are looking into him.

Santos told reporters that he planned to move to Oyster Bay, but it looks like he and his husband moved to Huntington in August 2022. This is outside of his congressional district.
In October 2022, Santos told the media, “I am openly gay and have never had an issue with my sexual identity in the past decade.” Santos got married in 2012. The Daily Beast says that they split up in 2019.
In December 2022, Santos told the world for the first time that he was married. He said, “I used to date women. I got married to a woman,” he said, adding, “I’m fine with my sexuality.” People evolve.”

When Santos got back from Brazil, he told his friends that he had worked as a journalist for a major news organization while he was there. Some people looked for his name on the website of the group, but they couldn’t find it.
From October 2011 to July 2012, Santos worked at a call center for Dish Network in College Point, Queens, as a customer service representative.
During this time, he is said to have told friends and coworkers that his family was wealthy and owned a lot of property in the U.S. and Brazil. During his campaign for Congress in 2022, he said this claim again and said that he and his family owned 13 rental properties in New York. There was no mention of these kinds of properties on his campaign’s financial forms or in public records. Santos told the Post that the claim was false and that, as of the end of 2022, he did not own any properties.
