“It was a really sad, scary, and confusing ten years,” Erin said. Erin noted at the time that her health problems began when she was 19: “In the beginning, it would be 24 hours of terrible stomach pain and a low-grade fever, and then it would disappear.”
Confounded by their initial findings, the medical team recommended she see another specialist for further evaluation. During a subsequent operation, doctors identified the rare condition’s source: a repeatedly self-repairing perforated appendix. The first incident of partial rupture occurred when she was 19, highlighting a cycle of the organ bursting and then naturally mending itself over time.

Erin Napier Experienced Throat Surgery
She first encountered symptoms indicative of a perforated appendix back in 2004. Following a throat operation, Erin Napier was in the process of recovery. She took to Instagram to share an image of herself recuperating in the hospital, alongside Rodney, a family friend employed in the cafeteria of the hospital, highlighting the comfort provided by familiar faces during her recovery period.
“Staying tonight in the hospital after a throat procedure, and feeling so cared for by an old friend,” Napier explained. In her heartfelt note, the “Home Town” host, who has two daughters, Helen, aged 4, and Mae, aged 1, with her husband and co-star Ben, detailed the special bond her family has with Rodney. Napier tweeted in advance of this and future episodes, “I was hospitalized with an abscessed tonsil during this block, so this episode and several others are about to have me with a weird voice and super puffy faced from IV steroids.” Sadly, Napier had to tape the show while recovering from an injury.
