Team Liquid is a professional gaming team that was founded by the Dutch in the year 2000. They initially started as a Brood War clan and later switched to StarCraft II in 2010 during the SC2 Beta. They quickly became one of the best western teams in the game. Team Liquid also entered the world of Dota 2 officially on December 6, 2012, and they performed exceptionally well by finishing in second place at The International 2019, having previously won The International in 2017.

When people think about Team Liquid, they often think of TL.net, which is the team’s official website. It was created on May 1, 2001, and has become the largest online resource for StarCraft and Dota 2 enthusiasts, attracting thousands of users and even professional players. They expanded their coverage to include Dota 2 on August 30th, 2012.

Aside from their player database, known as TLPD, Team Liquid’s website also hosts wikis for various games such as Brood War, StarCraft II, Hearthstone, Dota 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Heroes of the Storm, and Overwatch, called Liquipedia. It’s a hub of information for gamers and fans.

We’d like to apologise for the confusion around The International qualified teams caused by the standings on our Dota 2 wiki.

What is Dota 2 Liquipedia History?

In 2017, Team Liquid was expected to do well at The International, a big esports tournament. They started in Group A, where they competed with strong teams like Evil Geniuses, LGD Gaming, and Team Secret. Team Liquid did well in the group stage, and they finished first with 13 wins and 3 losses.

This meant they could choose to play against either Virtus. pro or Invictus Gaming from Group B in the next round. They picked to play against Virtus. pro but unfortunately lost the first match. They needed a great comeback like Digital Chaos did in the previous year to reach the Grand Finals.

They faced Team Secret in the lower bracket and lost a game to them. Team Liquid was close to getting knocked out, but they fought back and defeated Team Empire, Virtus. pro, and LGD Gaming in the lower bracket.

In the lower bracket final, they played against LGD. Forever Young and lost the first game. However, they turned things around and won the series. In the Grand Final, they faced Newbee and won all three games, becoming the seventh team to win The International and getting a prize of nearly USD 10 million.

This was special because their team had players from five different countries, and it was the first time a Grand Final ended in a 3-0 victory. It also continued the tradition of alternating wins between Chinese and Western teams at The International, with Liquid’s victory following that trend.
