Cyberpunk 2077 Beta Emails Are A Scam

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the emails that many users are getting about getting beta access to Cyberpunk 2077 are a scam. Many people got in touch with them asking if they were actually rolling out the beta. However, CD Projekt Red took to Twitter to explain that those emails are not from them.

CD Projekt Red Have No Plans For A Cyberpunk 2077 Beta

“If you recently received an email claiming to be granting you beta access to Cyberpunk 2077, it’s not from us. Unfortunately, there have been more of these being sent out over the past few weeks. When we contact you via email, it’ll always come from @ cdprojektred com address,” they wrote on Twitter.

“Same goes for content creators,” they continued. “We always reach out directly from @ cdprojektred com domain. If you are being contacted by a third party claiming to be working with us (an ad agency for example), you can assume it’s not genuine.”

When someone asked whether they have plans for an actual Cyberpunk 2077 beta, they confirmed that they don’t. This is all a big bummer for everyone involved. We are still many, many months away from Cyberpunk 2077’s release date.

Only A Few People Have Played Cyberpunk 2077 So Far

That’s all assuming that CD Projekt Red doesn’t delay the game once more. They very well could, considering their perfectionism. However, those who happened to fall for this phishing scam lost on two fronts.¬†On the one hand, doing so likely compromised their private data. On another, they are still no closer to playing Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red have been playing their cards quite close to their chest with this game.

A select group of games journalists did get to play the game for a few hours not too long ago. However, the public hasn’t seen what the game looks like today in a long, interrupted stretch of gameplay. Alongside an action-packed trailer, we did saw how Braindance would work during the first Night City Wire episode in June.

It Has Been A While Since We Saw Some Uninterrupted, Varied Gameplay

We’ve also seen nearly hour-long gameplay presentations previously. However, that version of the game is likely outdated at this point. It would be nice to get a glimpse at what the game is like at this point in its development. I guess we’ll just have to be patient.

Cyberpunk 2077 comes out on November 19, 2020. It will be available on the PS4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia.
