We haven’t seen the best cheerleaders of Navarro College in a while, but season two of Cheer will be available on Netflix next week, which is great news.
To examine how the cast of the show dealt with fame, COVID-19, and serious criminal accusations made against teammate Jerry Harris, which he denies, the hit docuseries that followed the US cheerleading team Navarro Cheer as they prepared to compete in the National Cheerleading Championships will be back.
The Cardinals of Trinity Valley Community College, Navarro’s archrivals in the next NCAA National Championship, will also be in the spotlight in the next film, as previewed in the current teaser.
It’s been a while since we last visited Navarro College’s top cheerleading team, but thankfully we won’t have to wait much longer for their return, with Cheer season two arriving on Netflix next week.
The hit docuseries, which followed US cheerleading team Navarro Cheer as they prepared to compete in the National Cheerleading Championship, will be back to look at how the show’s cast members dealt with fame, COVID-19, and serious criminal accusations made against teammate Jerry Harris, which he denies.
As teased in the latest trailer, viewers will also be a fly on the wall of Navarro rivals Trinity Valley Community College’s The Cardinals, who are working equally as hard to take down their competitors at the next NCAA National Championship.
“I felt like we went on this incredible ride with two remarkable teams,” director Greg Whiteley said. “It was inspiring and heartbreaking and sometimes frustrating, but ultimately moving, to be a part of their lives.”
Cheer Season 2 Release Date
Cheer’s second season will premiere on Netflix on January 12th. Production on the docuseries was scheduled to begin in January 2020, however, production was halted in March owing to COVID-19 and the cancellation of the 2020 NCAA National Championship.

Cheer Season 2 Cast
Navarro College cheering coach Monica Aldama, a Dancing with the Stars 2020 contender, as well as the team’s brilliant tumbler Lexi Brumback and established online personality Gabi Butler, will all be back for the season two of Cheer in the cast.
In addition to La’Darius Marshall and Morgan Simianer, they’ll be united once again on the screen.
Navarro’s newest hire Maddy Brum, former child pageant queen Cassadee Dunlap, and newcomer Gillian Rupert will all join the program in Season 2.
This season’s show will showcase Trinity Valley Community College’s coaching staff and several of the team members, including Jada Wooten (leader), Jeron Hazelwood (actor), DeVonte ‘Dee’ Joseph (tumbling), and Angel Rice (basketball).
Jerry Harris, who appeared in the first season, will return in the future season, which will focus on the child pornography allegations that were brought against him in September 2020.
Cheer Season 2
Once again, Navarro Cheer finds itself in the spotlight after their first season’s success, and the team must balance their newfound fame with their cheering duties when COVID-19 upends the 2020 cheer season.
A new assistant coach, Monica Aldama, will replace La’Darius Marshall in the upcoming season, and the show will take a look at Trinity Valley Community College, Navarro’s main rival.
The allegations of child pornography against Jerry Harris, a season one fan favorite, that surfaced during production will be the focus of the upcoming second season of Cheer.
As recently as September 2020, Harris was arrested and charged with solicitation of sexually explicit images and films from kids, which he denies. Seven further allegations of sexual crimes against kids were filed against him in December 2020, but he chose not to enter a plea.

In the past, a representative for him stated: “We categorically dispute the claims made against Jerry Harris, which are alleged to have occurred when he was a teenager.
“We are confident that when the investigation is completed the true facts will be revealed.”
“The news of Jerry’s probe surfaced on the same day that Monica was making her debut on Dancing with the Stars,” Cheer director Greg Whiteley said. The shock and grief were palpable.
“The series covers events as they unfolded, beginning in January 2020 through April 2021, so the charges against Jerry Harris are covered in depth in episode five. But we felt it was important to let viewers know upfront that it’s not something we ignore, which is why we acknowledge it at the beginning of the first episode.”
